Virginia, 86, was a fun-loving wife, mother and grandmother. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on
March 29th, 2025. She was born in Chicago on April 30, 1938, and spent her younger years expressing her
passion for life through her joy of dancing. She met her husband Joe while working at a music studio. They
later moved to Hoffman Estates to raise their family.
Her zest for life was apparent in her variety of interests and joy she found in taking care of her family while
also working part-time. She loved to cook and was always trying a new recipe. She passed down many Polish
recipes and traditions around the holidays. She took great pride in her home, which was apparent by the
endless hours she spent planting flowers and taking care of her garden.
Virginia loved to capture the moment. You could count on her to always have a camera in hand and she would
carefully instruct everyone on how to strike a pose. The running joke in the family is that she should own stock
in Kodak.
Her passion for life was also displayed in her eagerness to learn new hobbies such as sewing and spending
time with family and friends. She was on a bowling league, took numerous trips with friends, and spent
countless hours doing activities with her grandkids.
Virginia was the daughter of Frank and Jeannette (Gordon) Spychalski. She is survived by her daughters Lynn
(Sean) O’Dowd and Karen (Jim) Jurewicz and grandchildren Michael, Jessica, Haley Jo Jurewicz and Kelsey-Ann
O’Dowd.
Her sparkle for life and devotion to her family and friends will be greatly missed.
