Toyoko (Toyo) Tsuchida (nee Ito), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, passed away peacefully at her home on June 23, 2020. She was born on February 17, 1930 in Ogden, Utah and after graduating from high school, moved to Chicago where she met her husband, Hironobu (Hank) Tsuchida. They married on March 24, 1951 and enjoyed 42 years together.
Toyo was preceded in death by her parents, Nizaemon Ito and Hana Ito; husband, Hank; brothers, Joseph Ito and Frank Ito; and sisters, Sayeko Nakasone, Miyeko Sumita, and Natsuko Yamashita. She is survived by her children, Sandra Tsuchida (John Kleiman), Larry Tsuchida, and Jodi Traficanti (Rick); 7 grandchildren, Michelle Tsuchida-Zwierzko (Eric Kraft), John Zwierzko, Jr. (Kerry), Michael Traficanti, and Cameren, Ryan, Kayleigh and Matthew Tsuchida; 2 great grandchildren, Beckett and Hadley Zwierzko; sister, Akiko Tokita; and brothers, Dean Ito and Sam Ito. Toyo was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was conscientious and always encouraged family members to strive to be their best.
A celebration of Toyo’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the service will be private. Interment will follow at Montrose Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois. In her memory, contributions to your favorite charity are appreciated.
