Thomas J. Flanagan, 82, Ret. CPD, peacefully passed January
23rd. Beloved husband of Margaret, née Quirk, for 47 years.
Loving father of Bridget Flanagan and TJ (Tanya) Flanagan.
Adored grandfather of John, Tommy, and Livia. Cherished
brother of Judy (Joseph) Haughey and the late Marilyn Gulan.
Son of the late Thomas and Diana. Fond uncle, cousin, and friend
of many.
In his early years, Tom grew up in the Bridgeport and
Auburn/Gresham neighborhoods. After graduating from Little
Flower High School, Tom attended DePaul University, where he
played basketball for the Blue Demons. Tom joined the Chicago
Police Dept. in 1965, and soon after, moved to Norwood Park,
where he married Margaret, and they raised their two children.
Tom spent most of his career working as a youth detective and
retired in 1993 to devote greater attention to his detective agency
until his passing. A lover of martial arts, western movies, and Irish
music, Tom saw the good in all people and was loved everywhere
he went.
Visitation will be held at Cooney Funeral Home (625 Busse Hwy.,
Park Ridge, IL 60068) Monday, Feb. 3 rd , 2025, from 3pm-8pm.
Mass will be held at St. Paul of the Cross Church (320 S.
Washington Ave., Park Ridge, IL 60068), Friday, February 7 th ,
2025, at 11am. Please omit flowers.
