Thomas J. Barrett

Thomas J. Barrett, Sr., 78, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 13. Tom is survived by his children Kelly (Don) Lupo, Michelle (Michael) Orta and Tommy. Beloved brother to Eileen (the late Walter) Zakrzewski. Cherished “Pa” to his six grandchildren, Bryn, Tess and Lyla Orta; Jake, Raeah and Alora Lupo. Best friend to Joanne Barrett. Devoted Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Tom is preceded in death by his loving parents, the late James and Mary Ellen, and his late brothers Martin (the late Marion) and James.
Tom enjoyed a decorated 38 year career with the Chicago Fire Department, retiring as a District Chief in 2004. He was a well respected leader and friend to all, and will always be remembered as the nicest guy you could have ever known. He will be missed immensely.
