Susan O'Shaughnessy

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Susan
O’Shaughnessy (née Sheehy), at the age of 77, on October 18, 2024. After a beautifully lived
life, Sue is now joyfully reunited with her husband of 51 years, John “Jack” O’Shaughnessy. Her
legacy will continue to thrive through her children: Jackie (Brian) Murphy, Jamie (Anthony)
Napolitano, Jennifer (Michael) Pekic, and Joanne (Ferdinando) Traversa. Sue cherished her eight
grandchildren: Anna, Sofia, Antonio, Allison, Fiona, Anthony, Cate, and Jack.
Born in Chicago on September 24, 1947, Sue devoted her life to her family and friends. She will
be fondly remembered for her warm hospitality—her door was always open, tea always brewing,
and her cooking was a testament to her love for her family.
Sue was the cherished daughter of Eileen (née Beehan) and Thomas Sheehy, a loving sister to
the late Carol and Andy Kouchoukas. She was a dear cousin to Pat Pinto, sister-in-law to Richard
"Dickie" and the late Mary Dazzo, the late Jim “Red” and Helene Ferraro, and an aunt and friend
to many.
Please join us in celebrating her life on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at St. Juliana Church,
7201 North Oketo Avenue, Chicago, IL. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with the funeral mass
at 11:00am. A private family interment will follow.
