On Wednesday August 25, 2021, Sandra Lee Kubitz, loving mother of four children, passed away at the age of 81.
Sandy was born February 28, 1940, in Toledo Ohio to Robert and Edna Sprengel. Sandra earned a Masters in Education, devoted her career days to troubled youth with many years as an educator in Louisville Kentucky at the Georgia Chaffee TAPP an ideal school for pregnant and parenting students. Upon her retirement she relocated to Chicago to be near her children.
Family was her life, her children Jack, Kori, Kyle, and Abby and her six grandchildren filled her thoughts. Her only sibling and younger sister Lynn LaPlante though separated by states kept in contact monthly when traveling became harder.
If you were fortunate to be a friend of Sandy’s it was a lifetime loyal friendship. Her best friends for life Bev, Ellen, and Jan for over 70 years and Nina over 50 years offered companionship, comfort, and joy even in these later year’s; hours a week on the phone kept them as close as ever.
Sandy had a passionate love affair with reading, and cherry jolly ranchers. She is survived by her children and grandchildren, her sister, nieces, nephew and friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten.
Sandy is reunited with her mother and father, whom she missed every day for 60 years, along with her beloved cats, Chole and Owen and many Granddogs.
A memorial gathering to honor Sandy’s life will be held at a later date. Details to follow.
