Phyllis Karkazis, 84, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025. Beloved wife of the late JamesC. Karkazis; loving mother of Anastasia (Steven) Heffner, Mark (Carolyn) Karkazis, and Dean (Jennifer) Karkazis; loving grandmotherof Francesca, Stephanie, Katrina, Samantha, Lauren and Adam. Dear sister of Dean (Helen) Koretos, Stephanie Kouretsos, & Jim (Margaret)Kouretsos, dear aunt to many nephews and nieces, and a great friend to all.
Phyllis was born in Athens, Greece and grew up in Chicago, Illinois. She began her career as an accountant before becoming a very successfulreal estate agent, always treating her clients like family. Phyllis’s true passion was her family and friends. She loved nothing more than havingloved ones visit and share meals while enjoyingeach other’s company. Phyllis loved travelingand enjoyed visiting many destinations over the years. Phyllis was also passionate about gardening, cooking, and baking, always preparing much more food than necessary to ensure she could give everyone care packages to take home. More than anything, Phyllis was a beautiful soul with an enormous heart, carryingunconditional love for all, and she will be deeply missed.
