Patrick Cahill, age 80, passed away peacefully in his home on November 16. He was a native of
Ballyhahill, County Limerick, Ireland, and the son of the late Thomas and Catherine (nee Lane) Cahill.
Beloved and devoted husband of Barbara (nee McDonagh); father of Thomas, Patrick (Michele),
Maureen Blaha (Stephen), and Barbara Anne Ohse, CFD (Rory, CFD); and proud grandfather of Ciaran,
Aidan, Declan, and Brendan Blaha, Keira, Kaitlin, and Connor Ohse, and Sean Mala-Cahill. He was the
fond brother of the late Eileen (late Kevin) Carroll, the late William, the late Mary (late Michael) Gleeson,
the late Thomas, Margaret (Patrick) Lynch, Elizabeth (John) Clince, the late Daniel, Kevin (Rose), John
(Maureen), Bernadette (John) Ryan, Frank (Máire), Sister Catherine Cahill, and the late babies Joseph
and Stephen. Patrick was the dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Survived by countless family
members and friends.
Patrick was a proud member of Local #399, Stationary Engineers. He came to Chicago 62 years ago.
Patrick loved all kinds of sports and had a special affinity for golf and days well spent hitting the ball
“long and straight.”
Patrick suffered from dementia for the past 8 years. Despite this, he always kept his kind, easy going
manner. He was always smiling and laughing and was known to many as a consummate gentleman.
Visitation Tuesday, November 21 from 3-8 pm at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Hwy., Park Ridge.
Mass 10 am at Immaculate Conception Parish, 7211 W. Talcott Ave., Chicago, on Wednesday, November
22. Interment All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Patrick Fathers or Misericordia are appreciated.
