Mary Kathryn Vitek

Mary Kathryn Vitek (nee Castiglioni) Age 76, passed. Mary Kay, aka, Rusti, grew up on the North Side of Chicago in the West Lake View neighborhood. She met Elmer, her husband of 56 years, on a blind date – even though they lived 2 blocks away from each other – they never met until that moment. Mary Kay attended St. Andrews Grade School and St. Benedict’s High School. After high school, she attended beauty school and received her certificate. She was an avid reader and enjoyed camping, especially at Devil’s Lake State Park. Her love for both passed along to 3 generations. Her family was her love and light. Her wooden spoon was her greatest weapon. The sacrifices she made for her family are too numerous to mention but deserve recognition. Mary Kay was a dedicated employee of Jewel/Osco retiring after 17 years in 2008. Mary Kay is survived by her husband Elmer, her children: Diane LaRocco (Mike) Lentz, Barb Vitek- Gonzalez, Katie (Mohammad) Rashed, and Robert (Beth). Grandchildren: RJ, Nick, Quinn, Grace, and Gavin. Great-grandchildren: Isabella and Arya. Best friends: Jackie Irmie, Diane Arciola, Martha Ottesen, and Vicki Glenn. Numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins. Special thanks to super care giver, Joe Bedard. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 28,2021 from 12 until time of service @ 4 pm at Cooney Funeral Home, located at 625 Busse Hwy in Park Ridge, Il. Internment Private.
