Maria Giannakakos

Maria Giannakakos, née Alexis, passed away on December 3, 2022 at the age of 92. Born in the beautiful mountain village of Achladokampos, Greece, she ultimately called Chicago her home. Maria was the daughter of John and Olympia Alexis, with 3 sisters and 2 younger brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Giannakakos. Devoted and loving mother of Emmanuel (Teresa), John (Anetta), the late Jim, and Vicky (Perry). Loving and caring grandmother of Jennie, Maria, Michael, George, John, and Maria. Fond aunt to many nephews and nieces. Cherished by friends with whom she shared a cup of coffee or a walk through the park. Her devotion to family, zest for life, and contagious laughter will not be forgotten by those who knew her. In her words, «Η ζωή είναι καλή»    Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church located at 2727 W.
