John Arnold Charles Kraak, “Jack”, 20, of Chicago passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, in Harwood Heights, Illinois.
Friends and family can pay their respects on Friday, April 7, 2023, at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Hwy, Park Ridge, Illinois. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. with a moment of prayer at 3 p.m. The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4939 W. Montrose, Chicago, Illinois. Lying in state will begin at 10 a.m. with a service to follow at 11 a.m., being officiated by Pastor Ehrhard. Procession will follow the service to Irving Park Cemetery, 7777 W. Irving Park Road.
Jack was born on February 10, 2003, in Chicago Illinois to Robert and Deborah Kraak (nee Coleman). He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Arlene Kraak and Barbara Lynch; grandfathers, Robert Francis Kraak and Patrick Lynch; and brother Dylan Kraak. He was a beloved brother to Brittany (William) Potts, Rachel Kraak, and Luke Kraak. Loved and missed by uncle(s) Michael (Janine) Kraak and Allan Coleman; aunt(s) Laura (Dennis) Jasinowski and Patsy (Russ) Schrader; cousin(s) Jeff (Emily) Jasinowski, Jordan (Joe) Iberl, Mike Kraak, Jenny Kraak, Stephanie (Michael) Donnell, Brian (Tania) Schrader, and Patrick Schrader. Dearest uncle to Millie and cherished by many friends.
In 2017, Jack graduated from St. John’s Lutheran Grade School and continued on to graduate from Notre Dame College Prep in 2021, where he was a percussionist in the marching and concert bands. Following high school, he went on to attend Triton College and played baseball for the Triton Trojans baseball team. Jack was also a cub scout and achieved the highest rank of Arrow of Light. He continued to Boy Scouts and again achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow and had earned the rank of Brotherhood.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Triton College Baseball, the team which Jack was dedicated to, and who was highly supportive of Jack’s success. Monetary donations will be given directly to the Triton College Baseball in Jack’s name.
