John F. Woods

 John Woods, age 88, of Park Ridge and Palos Hills, native of Bushfield, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, Ireland, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 62 years, Catherine Woods, née Cleary, of Castlebar, Co. Mayo. John passed away with his three children, Ann (Gerry) Langan, John (Joy), and Dan (Kelly), at his side. John’s grandchildren—Sean (Meggie), Brenna, and Tessa Langan; Caitlin, Jack, Owen, and Sophie Woods—and great-grandchild, Lucy Langan, will proceed in life benefiting from the love and encouragement he gave them all. In addition to the family and friends he leaves behind in Chicago, John is survived by his siblings, Rev. Daniel Woods of Kilcommon, Co. Tipperary, and Mary (Donal) Murphy of Tralee, Co. Kerry, as well as his many lifelong friends and cousins whom he loved to visit in Boher, Bushfield, and Ballywilliam. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary (née Ryan) Woods, and by his brother, Timothy, and sister, Joan. John was a proud Local 13 Carpenter’s Union member for over 50 years. He filled his days with the Chicago Bears, Tipperary hurling, multiple newspapers, walks at Caldwell Woods, and wonderful meals prepared by his wife. Visitation Monday January 12, 2026, at Cooney Funeral Home 625 Busse Hwy. Park Ridge from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m..  Funeral Monday January 12, 2026, 12:15 p.m. to St. Paul of the Cross Church 320 S.
