John C. Rutherford

John C. Rutherford - beloved husband of the late Della (nee Tongson); loving companion of Terry Ward; devoted father of Cary (Brian) Doherty; Craig (Robyn) and Brian (Amy) Rutherford;  The "Old Ranger" was the proud and cherished grandfather of Matthew, Nathan and Mary Doherty, Charlie, Thomas, Madelyn and Emily Rutherford, Jaxson, Aiden and Wyatt Rutherford;  fond brother of Maureen Belloumini, Peggy Patis and the late George and the late Therese;  uncle of many nieces and nephews. 

John was the proud owner of Clarendon Food Mart — affectionately known as “Clarendon University.” He employed many family members and friends, and those he hired soon became friends as well. John took great pride in mentoring others, teaching them not only how to work hard but also how to be their best selves. For many, Clarendon University was their first job, and John made it an experience filled with learning, laughter, and lasting friendships. John was just as special to his customers.  He made everyone who walked through the door feel valued. He touched countless lives, and he will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and the Clarendon community.     Visitation Sunday 3-8 p.m. at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Hwy in Park Ridge.  Funeral Monday, prayers at 9:30 a.m. going to St. Juliana Church for Mass at 10 a.m.  Interment private.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.  Info 847-685-1002 www.cooneyfunerslhome.com
