John Logan passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at the age of 53, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of 31 years to Annette (nee Calixto). Devoted father to Shawn and Izzy. John is the son of the late John R. Logan and Merle A. Logan (nee Resnick). Cherished brother-in-law, adored son-in-law, loving nephew and cousin to many.
John was a true family man and someone that would help others in need. Helping his family was not only how he showed his love, but it was also his life mission. No matter how old his children were, John got them to and from everywhere. Whether it was 5:30 in the morning, or 12:00 at night, he’d be there to pick them up. You have an early meeting for work you need to get to? John will drive you. You woke up late for school? John will get you there on time. If your friend needed a ride home, no worries, just give John the address. It really didn’t matter what the occasion was, as John loved to drive.
Some of John’s proudest moments in life included marrying his high school sweetheart, raising and seeing his children become adults, buying a home, and adopting his furry best friend, Snowball. His love language was helping others. He was an angel on earth. His drive in life was to make sure that the people he loved, those closest to his heart, were successful and happy; he’d put his mind and body on the line to achieve that. There wasn’t anything that he wouldn’t do to help those he’d love. He was a true family man and took great pride in it. When his children were young, he’d chaperone every one of their field trips, just to have more time with them. When they grew older and became tennis players, he attended every one of their matches to cheer and support them. Every moment he had with his family was a moment worth relishing to him.
John had a lifelong love for sports, including baseball, football, car racing and tennis; his favorite baseball team was the Chicago White Sox and his favorite football team was the Green Bay Packers. He was a lifelong Chicago native and a fan of most Chicago sports teams, but he could never will himself to cheer for the Bears. John also had a lifelong passion for professional wrestling; if wrestling were on seven days a week, he would be watching it seven days a week. He grew up idolizing Ric Flair, who he thought was the greatest to lace their boots. Greatness recognizes greatness, I suppose. His passion for sports, however, was amplified only by moments in which he could share it with others. He loved to attend sporting events with his family, talking sports with his family, and watching sports with his family.
While vacationing in Puerto Rico, John would show great excitement over driving through the winding roads. John is now riding along the heavens watching over his loved ones.
