Joanne Krone

Joanne Marie Krone, nee Jahnke, 91 passed away peacefully May 11, 2024 at the Sheridan Assisted Living in Park Ridge.  Born and raised in Chicago, Joanne graduated from St. Patrick’s High School before marrying the love of her life, Charles W. Krone.  While raising a family, she attended Northeastern University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree, the first in her family to do so.  She then went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Education from Loyola University of Chicago.  During her career in education, Joanne was principal of the Park Ridge School for Girls and a special education teacher at a number of schools, including Maine South High School in Park Ridge.  In retirement, she and Charles moved to Ludington, MI and indulged in their love of travel.  Joanne traveled to China, Kenya and throughout Europe and the United States often sharing the experience with family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles.  A loving mother, Joanne is survived by her six children: Gail (Donald) Burkhart, Charles Krone, John (Colleen) Krone, David (Linda) Krone, Lynn (Scott) Rollins, and Kurt (Chris) Krone.  A devoted grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 11, Joanne will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.  The family would like to thank the nursing and hospice staff who took such loving care of Joanne in her final days and request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Paws Chicago Animal Shelter. 

Visitation Thursday, May 16 8:30-9:30am  at Cooney Funeral Home 625 Busse Park Ridge. 10:00am Mass at Our Lady of Ransom 8300 Greenwood Niles.  Interment All Saints Cemetery
