James W. Palmer, 90, of Chicago and Naples, FL passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on January 21, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Mary Carol (Burns) for 70 years; devoted father to Kathleen (Will) Isherwood, Maureen (Pat) McCracken, Bill (Peg), Jim (Diana), Mike (Michele), and the late Peggy; proud Grandpa of 17 and dearly loved Papa to 8 great-grandchildren.
Jim was a member of the Chicago Police Department for 25 years and later a member of the Chicago Board of Trade. He was a friend and benefactor to many charitable organizations, but nearest to his heart was Misericordia Home.
His kindness, generosity, and humor will live in our hearts. His decency, work ethic, and integrity will inspire our lives.

A memorial service for both Carol and Jim will be held on Monday, July 11th at St. Juliana Church, 7400 Touhy Ave., Chicago. Visitation 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Mass at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements by Cooney Funeral Home.
