James Herrmann

In loving memory of James G. Herrmann, who passed away at the age of 86.  He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorathea (Dora), nee Faust, Herrmann, and step-father, Louis Toenjes of Columbia, Illinois and his brother, Paul L. Toenjes of Columbia, Illinois.

Survivors include his nephew Bradley (Sheri) Toenjes of Columbia, Illinois, niece, Jennifer (Kevin) Anderson of Webster Groves, Missouri, and special friend, Luz E. Badillo of Valparaiso, Indiana.

He attended Immaculate Conception grade school in Columbia, Illinois and St. Henry Preparatory Seminary in Belleville, Illinois.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1959-1963.  He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant where he repaired communications equipment for the control tower as well as ground-based aides to navigation.

James’ unwavering Catholic Faith, and his devotion guided his daily life.  He was a longtime parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Chicago, Illinois.  James enjoyed singing and was a major part of the choir, extremely helpful with all technical care, and especially the sound system.  He was a computer expert, and had a passion for science and math.  James was an intelligent, kind, compassionate, and all around exceptional person who made a difference in so many lives.  He was most recently a member of Our Lady of Sorrows in Valparaiso, Indiana.
