Private family services were held for Eileen (Curley) Leutz, 97, of Chicago. She passed on October 7, 2021. Born July 5, 1924 in Passaic, NJ, Eileen was the daughter of John and Margaret Halford Curley. She graduated from Orange Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and the postgraduate school at Boston Lying-In Hospital (Brigham and Women's Hospital). She worked in nursing until her retirement. In retirement Eileen and her beloved husband, Mort, moved to Hilton Head, SC from Concord, OH. There they enjoyed many rounds of golf and each achieved two holes-in-one and countless birdies. While not on the golf course Eileen could be found at many a bridge table or volunteering at the local hospital. Once she couldn’t see the golf ball or drive due to macular degeneration, Eileen moved Chicago to be with her family. She loved the city for the independence it offered through public transportation, classes at the Center for Life and Learning, bridge games at Berger Park, Sunday CSO concerts, her Brookdale Independent Living apartment, and meals with family and friends. Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Reyn and Chris Leutz; daughter, Barbara Leutz and son-in-law Sam Newberry; granddaughter Nina Leutz, grandson Peter Leutz; and niece Eileen (Murphy) Russick. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, D. Morton Leutz and her son, Donald M. Leutz Jr. Eileen’s final resting place is Aspen Hill Cemetery in Jackson, Wyoming. Donations may be made in Eileen’s memory to the Hearts for the Hungary Community Lunch Program at Our Lady of the Mountains - P.O. Box 992, Jackson, WY 83001.
