Dorothy Marie Kaufmann, 70, of Chicago, died April 24, 2019. Dorothy graduated from St. Andrews Grammar School and Good Counsel High School both in Chicago. Dor worked her entire career for Ameritech Corp. She blazed new ground as one of the first women on install and repair crews for “Ma Bell” in the late 1970s. She enjoyed her work for the technical challenge and being outdoors. Family and friends will miss “her force of nature” and ready laugh. We will tell stories of Dor’s sky diving, Halloween parties, camping trips, poker games and gourmet dinners at lovely table settings. As a legendary baker, she found her way to everyone’s heart thru cookies and desserts. Dorothy was devoted to her mother’s last years engaging her in endless games of Scrabble and providing wonderful meals. Dorothy provided her extensive family with gifts that became entire traditions of their own. She has left her family and friends solid memories of love. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Bernice (nee Narbut) Kaufmann and her brother Nicholas. Dorothy is survived by her sisters Carol Paulus (Joseph) and Patricia Allabastro (Thomas), brothers John (Martha MacMorris), Karl (Sonia Richter), Mark (Joan) and James Kaufmann and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
