Bruce M. Mathis

Bruce M. Mathis, 65, of Chicago, Illinois, passed on April 28th, 2020. Beloved husband of Katherine Mathis; loving father to Christina Mathis, and Michael (Laura) Mathis, and Step-father to James (Alice), John (Samantha), Jessica, the late Bryan Moorehouse; and endeared grandfather to Sophia, Bridget, and Lily. Bruce was an honorable veteran of the Vietnam War and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He served as an airframe repairman and welder and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal during his service. After returning to Chicago, he began his career in the electrical industry as a Union Journeyman Electrician (I.B.E.W Local 134), where he continued working for over 30 years. Bruce enjoyed cooking, watching the news, the history channel, and his favorite Godzilla movies. He loved spending time with his wife Kathy planting vegetables in their garden, shooting pool with his friends, and always found it rewarding to go fishing with his children. Bruce will always be remembered for his loyalty to his friends and family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Cooney Funeral Home Park Ridge 847-685-1002.
