Betty J. Byrne

Betty Jane Byrne (nee Flaherty), 86, of Niles IL, previously Chicago, passed away from cancer on May 17th. Beloved wife of 61 years to the late John P. Byrne; daughter of the late Cecilia F. (nee McArdle) Flaherty and John J. Flaherty; caring sister to the late Joan M. Flaherty, Ellen T. (Flaherty) and Bob Prest, Jack J. Flaherty, Bill Flaherty, and Mary C. Flaherty; loving mother to Mary Ellen (Werner) Maevski, Patty (Bob) Stevens, Julie (Mark) Racioppi, and John (Denise) Byrne; adoring Grandma to Cassie (Stevens) and John Prejzner, Courtney Stevens, married to Jake Golovchuk, Ally Stevens, married to Mike Bonetti; John and Maggie Maevski, Megan and fiancé Matt McCarthy and Elesabeth Racioppi, Kaylee and fiancé Jen Dufour, Hannah, Natalie and Madalyn Byrne; Great Grandma to Maddy, Lilly and Kate Prejzner; fond aunt to many. 

Betty grew up in Chicago and raised her family in Edgebrook. She was a registered nurse; her final service was with the Chicago Board of Health. She was a graduate of Immaculata High School and St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing. 

Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Brebeuf Church located at 8307 N. Harlem Ave. in Niles. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
