Anna Marie V. (Scimeca) Meyer

Anna Marie V Meyer (Nee Scimeca) was under the compassionate care of the wonderful staff at Rainbow Hospice Arc in Chicago and went peacefully in her sleep on June 23, 2020.  Daughter of the late Joseph C. (Marie) Scimeca and beloved wife of the late Carl Heinz Meyer; sister of the late Rosemary (Charles) Manahan.  She is survived by her son Joseph Henry Meyer and daughter Mary-Ann (Robert) Dawson; cousins Adele Johnson and Ruth Byron; nieces Mary Margaret Witzman, Therese (John) Styx, Kathy (John) Calendo, Karen (Chris) Parker, Tricia (Steve) Guard, and nephews Charles Manahan Jr, Christopher (Andi) Manahan, Mary (the late Joseph) Manahan, and many great nieces/nephews.

Anna Marie loved sports and was proud of her team’s undefeated basketball season at St. Andrews.  She walked to Cubs games every chance that she had, keeping score the old-fashioned way that only an accountant would. She also loved horses and enjoyed riding through Lincoln Park back in the day, and on vacation with her family in Arizona.  She also loved the stage plays and was a volunteer usher at the Chicago Theater; she would say, “the best seat in the house was standing.”  Anna Marie was very devoted to St. Andrews and ran the church’s Credit Union for many years, was a regular lector and a communion minister who took communion to the sick/elderly parishioners who could not get to church.  She was truly kind and generous to her church family both at St. Andrews and most recently St. Pascals, and her extensive groups of friends and neighbors, and will be greatly missed.   Funeral services were private and a Memorial Mass will be held in the future.  Arrangements by Cooney Funeral Home 773-588-5850 www.cooneyfuneralhome.com
