Ann Catherine Salicete (Huffnus)

May 30, 1930 – December 15, 2023

On December 15, 2023 Ann Salicete (Huffnus) passed away peacefully after a long illness surrounded by her family.

Ann’s family immigrated to the United States in 1929 from Nero Hungary. She was the first family member born in this country.

Ann was orphaned at a very young age and was raised by her older brother John (Huffnus) and his wife Eva (Tillger) as their own, along with their four children; Elizabeth, John, Margaret and Theresa.

In 1951 during the Korean Conflict, Ann completed her training at the Naval Academy in Arlington Virginia where she met and married Joseph Salicete.

Ann is proceeded in death by her son Joseph (Jan and Sofia Girlando), her brothers (Karl Huffnus, Peter Huffnus, John Huffnus [Eva] and Matthew Huffnus [Marilyn]), her nephews (John Huffnus and Matthew Huffnus), and her niece (Margaret Risser [Huffnus]) as well as other beloved family and friends.

Ann is survived by three of her four children: Joanne Salicete-Fleming (Jeff); their children Neal (Annalisa) and Lauren Dudley (Dustin). John Salicete (Tricia); their children Jade and Jessica Galligan (Mike). James (the late Elizabeth Maloney[Salicete]); their children Jack (Ana), Jay and Jaime.

Ann was blessed with additional generations of loving great grandchildren; Angelina, Michael, Jack Conor, Liam, Wyatt, Hailey, Cole, Caleb, and Ellory.

Ann was a proud and devoted mom/grandmother/great grandmother/aunt/great aunt/sister/friend to many and leaves behind a legacy of love and strength.

She will truly be missed. May she rest in peace.
