Aloysius J. Memmel

Memmel, Aloysius J.: Born on December 14, 1928 went to be with his Lord on September 18, 2022.

Al was a Deacon at St. Paul of the Cross (Park Ridge, IL) and veteran US Army (Korea).  Beloved husband of Bette (nee Loeffler).  Father of Terence (Cindy), Kevin (Toni) and Kathleen (Raymond) Azzi.  Grandfather of Terence (Jennifer) Memmel, Jamie Hansen, Jessica Memmel, Jennifer Wurch, Jillian (William) Brown, Joseph and Leo Azzi.  Great Grandfather to Carter Memmel, Kyle and Kamryn Hansen and Marshall Brown.

Al was the past Commander of Mel Tierney VFW Post 247 and a 4th degree member of the Maria Council Knights of Columbus.  He was a long-time scout leader of Troop 24 (Park Ridge) and recipient of the Silver Beaver, St George and the Bronze Pelican awards. Al was also a proud member of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Catholic Committee of Scouting. 

He was a graduate of St Louis University (BS) where he was a member of Alpha Sigma Chi (Veterans’) fraternity.  He earned his MBA at Loyola University Chicago where he was a member of Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in Social Sciences.  Al also earned a certificate of Theology in Church History from the University of Notre Dame (STEP).

Al was devoted to his faith and family and lived by the motto “God, Country, Notre Dame.”

Visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Cooney Funeral Home located at 625 Busse Hwy. in Park Ridge. Funeral Saturday, prayers at 9:30 a.m. going to St. Paul of the Cross Church for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment Maryhill Cemetery.
