William (Bill) Olav Grandos, age 89, passed away at his Park Ridge home on Thursday, March 24, 2016. Born September 2, 1926 to Vera (Buaro) and Charles Grandos in the Logan Square area of Chicago, Bill enlisted in the US Army in 1944 and served in Korea from 1945-46. After his service, Bill graduated from University of Illinois with a degree in civil engineering and later worked for Sargent and Lundy. Bill had many interests outside of work including the Norwegian language and heritage, stamp collecting, bowling, woodworking, horse racing, history, and finance. He was the much loved only uncle of the Grandos children of Fort Wayne, IN. Bill is survived by his brother, Norman (Doris) Grandos; nephew, Jim Grandos (Debbie); nieces, Sue (Steve) Maggio, Jane (Jerome) Boundy, Patty (Jeff Howard) Grandos, and Elizabeth Grandos; and eight great-nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held Saturday, April 9 at Fairview Memorial Park, Northlake IL where Bill will be laid to rest next to his parents. Cooney funeral home, Park Ridge, is serving the Grandos family.
