William "Bill" John Conway, 79, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Jeannette (nee Shay) Conway, and his father and mother in-law, Allan and Patricia McFadden. Dearly beloved husband of 55 years to Jane, nee McFadden. Devoted father of Thomas, Ann Ingles, Daniel, and John. Dear father-in-law of Jenifer, Tadd Ingles, Jenny and Pam. Adored Poppa to Atticus, Whitney, Gavyn, Liam, Grace, Makenzie, Joshua, Riley, Jack, Molly, Emmett, and Nora. Loving brother of Peg (Ed) Corr and Eddie (Linda) Conway. Beloved brother-in-law of Patrick McFadden, Kate (Paul) Dombrowski, Bridget (the late Daniel) Sullivan, Tim (Karen) McFadden, Charlie McFadden, and Amy (Jim) Coleman. Loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. Cherished friend to many, especially lifelong friend, Pat Fergus. Was raised in Lincoln Square and in turn raised his family there as a member of Queen of Angels Church. A proud graduate of St. George High School in Evanston, class of '63. Bill enlisted in the Navy and proudly served on the USS Forrestal. He was an active member of American Legion Tattler Post 973 for more than 50 years. Bill had a long and successful career, as an electrical engineer, primarily at Abbott Laboratories. He was a kind and gentle soul, who never hesitated to help others and was quite fondly known throughout the neighborhoods he lived in as the one always out walking. A true gentleman in every sense of the word. Visitation will be held Friday, October 25, 2024, 3PM to 8PM, Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Hwy, Park Ridge, IL. Friends and family to meet at St. Juliana Catholic Church, 7201 N Oketo Ave, Chicago, on Saturday, October 26, 2024, for Funeral Mass at 10AM. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines. Funeral information 847-685-1002 or visit www.cooneyfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or Central Baptist Village would be appreciated.
