Obituary

Walter J. Drobena 9/7/1931 4/10/2016    Beloved Husband of the late Nancy (nee Prado), Beloved father and father-in-law to, David and Catherine (nee Poznar), Michael and Connie (nee Lewandowski), and Joseph and Kimberly (nee Jones). Loving Uncle to John and Lori Drobena, Jim, John, Susan, Michelin, and Paulette Romano.  Preceded in death by his parents John and Mary, and his brother Milan and sister Margarite; dear brother in law of Rosemarie and the late Jimmy Romano; Loving Cousin to Helen Hornek, Loving Grandfather to Janine, Brooke, Christopher, Jennifer, and Jessica Drobena. Walter was a great grandfather to many.    Walter was a longtime resident of Chicago's northwest side, attended Weber High, graduated in 1950. He served in the US Army 1952-54 in Germany with 43rd infantry division  Walter worked for the Chicago Transit Authority for 37 years as a lineman (local #9). Walter lived out hi life being a friend to almost everyone he met, around the community he was know as " Wally good guy" he would lend a hand if someone needed help, he donated his time and experience to a lot of programs, (scouting).  He will be greatly missed.  Visitation Wednesday 3-9 p.m. at Cooney Funeral home 3918 W. Irving Park Rd.  Funeral Thursday 10:15 a.m. to St. Wenceslaus Church for 11 a.m. mass.  Interment Queen of Heaven.  Info 773-588-5850 www.cooneyfuneralhome.com   In leau of flowers make a donation to the JDRF would be appreciated.  .
