Verlabee Sokol, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024 at the age of 89 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 07,1934 in DuQuoin, IL to Alfred and Gleda Moutrey. Throughout her life, Verlabee embodied strength, kindness, and grace. She was a pillar of strength for her family. Verlabee had an undeniable love for her family, cherishing every moment spent with her children Anthony (Lori), Angelo, Naomi (Phil), grandchildren Holly, Scott, Jefferey, Christopher, Garrett, Andjelko (Jr), Kathiane, Steven, Stephanie, Samantha, Melissa, Nicholas, Amanda and great-grandchildren Emma, Matthew, Derrick, McCann, Marin, Layla, Michael, Liam, Zane & Zoey. Verlabee is also survived by her brother Richard (Pat). Verlabee was preceded in death by her mother, father, sisters Betty and Emily, brothers Al and Jerry, son David, grandson Brian and her one true love Lenoard. Verlabee's zest for life was matched only by her unwavering joy in the company of others, where her warmth and kindness radiated. Her hobbies which she did so with love and boundless enthusiasm included Sunday Church services, Lake Opeka gatherings, volunteering with the local Police Department & hospital gift shop, watching the Barefoot Hawaiian Dancers at the park, riding the Ferris wheel at the local carnivals, and eating all her favorite delicious meals like Barnaby's pizza, & Portillos strawberry short cake dessert. In addition to her family, Verlabee touched the lives of many through her generosity and compassion. She was known for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and willingness to help others in need. Verlabee leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. While her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. A funeral service to celebrate Verlabee's life will be held on March 22, 2024, in Park Ridge, IL. May Verlabee's soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.
