Valeda Carbonneau, a cherished resident of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, at the age of 98 at St. Joseph Village of Chicago nursing home. Born in 1928, in Chicago, Valeda spent her life in the city she loved, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and devotion.Valeda dedicated over 30 years of her professional life to the American Medical Association, where her intelligence and dedication left an indelible mark. Her colleagues and those who worked alongside her undoubtedly benefited from her sharp mind and engaging personality.A devout Catholic throughout her life, Valeda was deeply committed to her faith. She regularly supported various Catholic organizations through donations and found solace and strength in her spiritual practices. Her faith was a guiding light that shaped her values and actions.Valeda was known for her vibrant personality and quick wit. She had an extraordinary ability to connect with people from all walks of life—she never met a stranger. Her humor and charm could brighten any room, and she had a remarkable talent for making others laugh. Those who knew Valeda will remember her as someone who brought joy and laughter wherever she went. She is survived by her beloved nieces Betsy McGow (Bryan) and Anne Carbonneau (Tom Cross). Valeda was predeceased by her older brother Leroy Carbonneau and younger brother Marvin Carbonneau.Valeda’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May her legacy of kindness, humor, and faith continue to inspire all who remember her. Visitation Thursday 10 - 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Village, 4021 W.
