Obituary

Timothy Joseph Kelly, 55, passed away peacefully August 16th in his Chicago home while holding the hand of his beloved wife, Amy (nee Drucker). Tim is the loving father of Lucas, Cassidy, Quinn and Aidan; devoted son of Pauline (nee Nealon) and Eamonn Kelly; dear brother of Sean (Allison), Kevin (Sue) and the late Neal Kelly; forever friend Julie Kulak.Tim grew up a happy, athletic boy in Park Ridge, IL, and was very proud of his Irish heritage and extended family in Ireland. He attended Mary Seat of Wisdom, Maine South High School and achieved his B.A. from DePaul University.  Tim spent 35 years in the Finance industry, most recently and notably as Director of Operations on the management team of Driehaus Capital Management, where he thoroughly enjoyed guiding his team and greatly appreciated the thoughtfulness and generosity of his coworkers during these final years. Tim was diagnosed with cancer 4 years ago and faced the battle with fierce bravery, conviction and, most of all, overwhelming optimism. While he has left this earth far too early, Tim has had an extraordinary impact on his family and friends that extends beyond his years. His legacy will be defined by his strength and his ability to make a positive impact on everyone in his life. The most important aspects of Tim's life were music, sobriety and family. Tim was not a musician, yet was an aficionado of all music and felt happiest at live concerts, especially related to his favorite band, the Grateful Dead.  Name a band, Tim likely saw them live and, no doubt, was dancing his heart out from start to finish. Tim loved to have fun and, admittedly, that led to him needing to make adjustments in his life.  On September 30th, 2002, Tim declared an objective to improve his health and happiness.  He achieved his goals and was eternally grateful to his friends in fellowship that guided him through his sobriety journey.  Tim also made a commitment to others and was fondly proud of the happiness he helped others achieve through sobriety. Most of all, Tim felt his greatest gift was his family, especially as a father to Lucas, Cassidy, Aidan and Quinn.  He found the most joy in caring for his children and his wife, Amy.  For Tim, the greatest accomplishments as a father and as a husband are to celebrate their successes, to which he is forever proud. Visitation Thursday 3-8 p.m. at Cooney Funeral Home 625 Busse Hwy in Park Ridge.  Funeral Friday, family and friends are asked to meet at Mary Seat of Wisdom for 11 a.m. mass.  Interment private.
