The family of Thomas "Tommy" J. Rausch, of Chicago, Illinois is sad to announce his sudden passing on January 19, 2022, after 67 years of a life well-lived and well-loved. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents Leo Rausch and Eileen M. (nee Moyles) Rausch Nunemacher, his stepfather Hubert Nunemacher, his siblings Mary Kay Rausch, Billy Rausch, Kevin Rausch, Leo Rausch, Eileen M. Rausch Wittmann and Margaret "Peggy" (Joseph) Rausch Herman Blanford Granbom. Tommy leaves behind his nephews Patrick (Amanda) Blanford and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hirsch, and nieces Erica (Isaac) Ochoa, Leslie Jaeger, Denise Johnson, Anna (Rausch) Jones. He also leaves behind great-nephews Leo Blanford, Logan Blanford, Layne Ridell, Liam Ridell, and great-nieces Bailee and Lily Blanford, along with many other great-nieces and nephews and other family members that will greatly miss him. Tommy, as he was known by all, worked diligently for 35 years as a Cook County painter. He was a kind man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, whether it be helping elderly neighbors with tax assessments or cleaning graffiti from neighborhood garages. Tommy donated generously to multiple charities including the Boys and Girls Club of Chicago and St Joseph's Indian School. He was well known in politics and campaigned for the Democratic Party of the 47th Ward for over 30 years. He was a huge CUBS fan, loved spending summers at the lake house with his family, and truly touched the hearts of all who met him. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. at Cooney Funeral Home located at 3918 W. Irving Park Rd. in Chicago.
