Thomas Joseph O'Brien, husband of Ann (nee Jennings), of Chicago passed away suddenly on Friday, February 11th, 2022, after 97 years of a life well-lived. After moving to Ireland in elementary school to work on the family farm, his strong passion for Irish music, tradition, and family was established. When he moved back to Chicago as a young adult, he met his loving wife, Ann, and worked as a laborer for the Chicago Water Department. In retirement, Thomas enjoyed a number of years having a summer home in Antioch, spending winters in Florida, and Ceili dancing at the Irish American Heritage Center. He was a hardworking and kind man, who truly touched the hearts of all who met him. Thomas is survived by his nine children: Tom (Andrea), John (Sherry), Don (Deni), Maureen (Roy) Schnoor, Terry (Cathy), Margie (Bob) Garrity, Tim (Julie), Jerry (Maureen), and Annmarie (Mick) Hogan. He leaves behind his 23 grandchildren: Erin, Breanne, Matthew, Ryan, Kaitlin, Kevin, Patrick, Meghan, Travis, Molly, Michael, Conor, Ava, Ellen, Macey, EmilyAnn, Clare, Thomas, Carly, Shane, Maureen, Kyle, and Maeve. He also leaves behind his nine great-grandchildren: Colton, Emma, Charlie, Mac, Madelyn, Wesley, Quinn, Nora, and Brady. Visitation at Saint Clement Church will be held on Tuesday, February 15th, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. The funeral Mass will begin at 10:30, and the private interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
