Thomas M. Martin, 79, Chicago,IL. Passed away peacefully Friday, July 31, 2026.
Born on August 22, 1946, Tom was the beloved son of the late Cornelius and Dorothy (Kehr) Martin. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Marilyn Martin (nee Klehm).
Tom was a devoted father and grandfather whose greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his son, Edward Martin, and his daughter-in-law, Stephanie (Zielke) Martin; and his two cherished grandchildren, Grace and William Martin, who brought immense joy to his life.
He was a dear brother to Neil Martin, and was preceded in death by his siblings Edward Martin, Dianne Lackowski (nee Martin), and Dennis Martin. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Tom proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the late 1960s and enjoyed the many Navy reunions that were held across the country. Upon returning homefrom the Navy, he settled back into his roots as a passionate Chicago sports fan, proudly holding Chicago Bears season tickets for many years. In his retirement, Tom loved traveling alongside his wife, Marilyn, with the highlight of their adventures being an unforgettable around-the-world cruise in 2018. Above all, Tom cherished the simple joy of spending quality time surrounded by his family and lifelong friends.
Visitation Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Hwy, Park Ridge, IL 60068. Funeral Friday, August 7, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 7211 W Talcott Ave, Chicago, IL 60631. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
