Theodore R. Johnson, 86. Life-long partner of 58 years to James Patrick Foley. Born in Monmouth, IL. Beloved son of the late Roy Aleck Johnson and Vera Adeline Fahlund; beloved brother of the late Delbert Leroy Johnson; also survived by his sister-in-law Ann Louise Johnson, nephews Gregory Alan Johnson and Bryan Noel Johnson, and his favorite niece Crystal Ann Johnson and her husband Howard Bollack; respected and loved son-in-law of the late Bernice Foley King (Tom); brother-in-law and uncle to many of the Foley, Lynam, and Henry families; and by his dedicated caregiver Gerald. Enduring, steadfast friendships will accompany Ted as he continues the journey.
Ted earned his Bachelor's from Northwestern University in 1958, and his Masters at University of Wyoming in American History in 1960. He started teaching American History at Oak Park River Forest High School in 1962. During his time at Oak Park he earned his Doctoral at George Washington University in American Civilization in D.C. In 1977 he transferred from academia to Sudler Property Management where he was promoted to Senior Vice President and retired in 2001.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Cooney Funeral Home located at 625 Busse Hwy. in Park Ridge. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment Town of Maine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made payable to "Hope Foundation" in honor of Ted and sent to JourneyCare 405 Lake Zurich Rd. Barrington, IL 60010.
A memorial service will held on Wednesday, October 12 at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Cathedral located at 65 E. Huron St. in Chicago.
