Teresa Gianakakos, née Ling Woon Sai 凌煥茜, passed away on January 23, 2023 at the age of 67. The daughter of Bernadette 梁潔雯 and the late Bernard 凌錦洪 Ling, Teresa was born in Hong Kong and grew up with her two sisters, Monica 凌煥虔 Chan (Steve) and the late Rita 凌煥梓 Fung (Harry). She came to the United States to attend university and ultimately called Chicago home. Teresa is survived by her devoted husband, Emmanuel Gianakakos, of 35 years. Loving mother to George and Maria. Caring aunt to Michael, Harrison, Alastair, Johnny, and Jacqueline. Devoted servant to the Lord and the brothers and sisters of the Church, she gave her life to spreading the Word and delivering God's message to others. Her lifelong intellectual curiosity led her to pursue higher education in ministry. She expressed herself creatively through dress-making, interior design, and hand-sewn Christmas stockings. Teresa will be missed dearly by her family, friends, and brothers and sisters of the Church. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church located at 2727 W. Winona St. in Chicago. Interment Elmwood Cemetery.
