Robert G. Benson, 67, passed away at home on March 7th following a courageous battle with cancer. A graduate of the American Conservatory of Music, Bob's lifelong passion for music was enormous. A gifted pianist, composer, orchestra leader, teacher, arranger and vocal coach, his artistry touched and delighted many lives and careers.     Surviving are his lifelong partner and  friend Sylvia Ramsay, his siblings Richard (Priscilla), Carole (Rich Weinberg), Thomas (Crissie), Gregory (Rachel), Christopher (Nancy) and Kathleen (the late Charles) Goro as well as his dear cousins, Virginia Smith and Susan and Steven Sorensen. Beloved uncle of 14 and great uncle of 7, he was also Godfather of Meghan Matz and Michael Benson.  To honor Robert's life, a celebration is planned for Sunday, March 12th at the Cooney Funeral Home, 3918 W.
