Richard P. Long Sr. (82), deceased December 12, 2014.  Beloved husband of nearly 60 years to the late Dora (Fitzpatrick) (Fritz) Long.  Born in Bethlehem, PA, graduated from Lehigh University, worked for Bethlehem Steel, and last worked for MetLife. He and his family moved to Valparaiso, Indiana in 1964, and eventually settled in the Chicago area in 1976.  He and Dora later retired to Largo, FL in 1997. Richard's Catholic faith was very important to him, and he eventually joined Opus Dei, of which he was a member for over 45 years.  Preceded in death by his parents Michael and Catherine (Berger) Long and his six older siblings, Anne (Wolfe), Catherine (Hussar), Robert, William, Malvena (Bauer), and Michael.    Loving father of Richard Jr. (Victoria), Daniel (Amy), Diane (Laurence) Madison, Barbara (W. Michael) Ross, Mary (David) Rossi, David (Ann), Timothy, Patricia (John) Whaley, the late Edward, Raymond, Andrew (Maria) and John (Bridgid).  Loving Grandfather to 45: Philip Long, Kevin (Christle) Long and Brett Long; Jaime (Raul) Vasquez, Laure (Andrew) Heikes; Laurence Jr. (Elizabeth) Madison, Catherine (Jonathan) Meyer, Mark (Honey) Madison, Patrick, Sean, Paul, Mary Jo, Therese, Margaret and John Paul Madison; W. Gregory (Paige) Ross, Katie (Benjamin) Hauser, Mark and Joseph Ross;  David, Michael, Gabriel, Nathan, Miriam, Jacob, Grace and Benjamin Rossi; Bridget, Thomas and Stephen Long;  Peter, Elizabeth, Margaret, Teresa, Edward, Paul, Richard and Thomas Whaley; Nicole, Rachel and Jessica Long; Michael and Sarah Long; and Aidan and Tegan Long.  Great Grandfather to 20 : Nadia, Benjamin and Nathaniel Vasquez;  Caleb, Lucy, Toby, Nellie and Mae Heikes; Amelia and Alexis Madison; Cecilia, Felicity and Damian Meyer;  Tristan and Wyatt Long;  William, Hailey and Sydney Ross; and Mason and Madeline Hauser.  Visitation at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Hwy, Park Ridge on Friday, December 19 from 3-8pm.  Funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Angels Church, 1850 N Hermitage Ave, Chicago on Saturday, December 20 at 11am.  Interment All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
