Patrick Wong, 91, passed away the morning of October 11, 2024 at his home in Park Ridge, IL. Beloved husband of Helen Wong of 58 years, father of Kenneth (Sandi), Desmond (Teresa), Kevin (LB), grandfather to Anna, Emily, Avner and future grandson, Jonathan. Preceded in death by his parents Sing Wong and Ying Wong. He is survived by his older sister Sue and younger brother Peter.
Patrick was born in Zhongshan (Shekki), China in 1933. From 1941 to 1961, he lived in Macau, Guangdong and Kowloon, Hong Kong and graduated in 1960 from the Chu Hai University. In 1962, he traveled to the United States initially settling in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. He later married Helen in 1966 and shortly after moved to Park Ridge where they raised their 3 sons. Patrick spent his entire 38 year career working at Micro Rolled Thread Corporation. He was an integral part of its success and was loved by both his colleagues and customers before retiring in 2001.
Patrick had several interests including photography and gardening. He could always be found with a camera in his hand whether at home or on a trip and loved tending to his flower and vegetable garden. He was an avid do- it- yourself'er and loved good food, both passions that he passed onto his sons. A long time Park Ridge resident of 57 years was always quick with a friendly smile and a helping hand to his neighbors. The family invites all to Cooney Funeral Home at 625 Busse Hwy. Park Ridge, IL 60068 on Friday October 18, 2024 from 3-8pm. A short visitation on Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Procession to All Saints Cemetery (Section 32) to follow., Des Plaines, IL .
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Patrick's name can be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
