Nelson Fischer Hermance Jr., 93 Died August 6, 2015 US Army Major, Beloved husband of Silvia (nee Bent). Loving father of Nancy, Elizabeth and Nelson III. Mr. Hermance was born in Boston Ma. on August 6, 1922 to Nelson and Helen (nee Hahn) Hermance. He attend Milton Academy and graduated from Harvard University in 1943. Nelson served as a Field Artillery Observer during World War II and then as a liaison Pilot for the 725th Field Artillery Battalion, "The Trailblazers".He flew 61 Combat Missions. Nelson assumed command of the 725th Field Artillery Battalion Air Section as a 2nd Lieutenant in World War II. After the war Mr. Hermance attended the University of Michigan receiving his MBA and worked for Chrysler Company in Detroit Michigan. In the mid 1950's Nelson returned to New England and assumed the duties of executive officer of the Dorchester Minot Cooperative Bank. He was an executive in the banking industry for the remainder of his career. He enjoyed downhill skiing, travel, hiking and remained an active pilot until the late 1970's Nelson was surrounded by his loving children at the time of his passing. Memorial visitation at Cooney Funeral Home,3918 W. Irving Park Rd., Chicago on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. Service at 5:00 p.m. Interment private.
