Mrs. Mildred T. Tahany, 86, passed away on February 18, 2017 at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois following a short illness. Mildred was born on June 15, 1931 in Chicago, IL to Stanley and Henrietta Budnik. Mildred graduated from Good Counsel High School in Chicago.  She received a bachelor's degree from DePaul University in Education and taught elementary grades. She was a member of Delta Epsilon Sigma, the national Catholic honor society.   Later in life she earned a Masters' Degree in Educational Administration from Northeastern Illinois University.    Mildred worked at Felician College, Mallinckrodt College, and Northwestern University doing public relations and research. Mildred married Thomas P Tahany Sr. in Chicago, IL. They shared that special relationship for 32 years.   She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, and doing crossword puzzles in ink. Mildred is survived by sons Kevin (Debbie) of Madison, WI, Thomas P. Jr. of Niles IL, a brother Thomas (Mary Therese) of Ames, IA, and a granddaughter, Christina (Madison), nieces, and nephews and other relatives. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas Sr., and an infant son, Thomas Christopher. Visitation will be held at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Hwy, Park Ridge, IL from 3 to 9 PM on Wednesday, February 22nd with prayer service at 7:00 P.M.   Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Rev. Dennis O'Neill at St. Martha's Church, 8523 Georgiana Ave., Morton Grove, IL at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 23rd.    Burial to follow at All Saints Cemetery, 700 North River Rd., Des Plaines, IL.  The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Lutheran General Hospital for their extraordinary care during these last weeks.
