It is with great sadness that the family of Michael ("Mike") Patrick Wright announces his passing on July 23rd, 2024. Mike is the son of Porter Wright and Karen (Gates) Woodard (stepfather Ronald Woodard). Mike is the former husband of Bertha (Espino) Wright, loving father of Brian (Karlene), Chad (Kayla), Zach (Angie), and Charlie (Rosemary). He is also the proud grandpa of Kyle, Marley, Emma (Brian), Jalen (Chad), and Michael Malachi (Zach). Brother of Kim Wright, LuAnn Fugiel, and Rhonda Gomez. Uncle (more like a big brother) of Rusty, cousin and favorite uncle of many more. Born and raised in Chicago, Mike spent his final years in Lincoln, Nebraska with his beloved partner Debbie Parsons and Pekinese Ginger. Mike is preceded in death by his father Porter F. Wright, grandparents, many aunts, uncles and cousins. Mike proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve for eight years, Semper Fi! He was known as a jack of all trades who could fix anything with his hands, which he proudly displayed with a tattoo of a wrench on his right palm. Mike was always willing to help friends and family with home repairs or fix a car because he was skilled and could build or fix anything. He could always be counted on to help someone move and he would bring his own moving crew of his four boys to help. Mike's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends always making sure everyone had a good time especially in Michigan with the Konieczko family. Mike was known for a larger-than-life presence and a great ability to care deeply for his family and friends. He will be remembered for his big heart, his love of life, and the joy he brought to those around him. His laughter will be missed by many. Seeing his boys grow to become the men they have become made him immensely proud and they are his greatest accomplishment. A celebration of life will take place at Cooney Funeral Home at 625 Busse Highway, Park Ridge, Illinois on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mike's memory to the Neighborhood Boys and Girls Club at nbgc.org/donate. May you finally be at peace Son/Dad/Mike; you are forever in our hearts.
