Michael Francis McCann, 80, of Park Ridge and a native of Kiltobranks, Ballaghedereen, County Roscommon, Ireland, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Michael was the devoted husband of 53 years to Sarah, nee Hoey, a native of Omeath, County Louth, Ireland. He was the loving father of Sheila (the late Daniel) Stanton, Michael (Tricia), Kathleen, Sarah (Patrick) McGovern, Peter, and Kevin. Very proud grandfather "RoRo" of Finbar, Seamus, Sinead, and Liam Stanton; Clare, Megan, and Michael McCann; and Patrick, Maeve, Michael, Luke, and Francis McGovern. They will never forget his kind heart, gentle nature, and boundless generosity. Michael is survived and lovingly remembered by his brothers Patrick, Andrew (Rose), Sean (Margaret), and Gerard (Patricia); his sisters-in-law Mary (the late Joseph) Kirwan, Brigid (the late John) Meer, Rosaleen Hoey, and Maura (the late Patrick James "Jim") Hoey; 32 nephews and nieces and their families in Chicago, Ireland, and Australia; and his McCann and Duffy extended relations. He is preceded in death by his parents Patrick and Bridget (nee Duffy) McCann; sister Kathleen McCann; brother Thomas Joseph "Joe" and sister-in-law Cora McCann; nephews Brendan McCann and Patrick McCann; sister-in-law Margaret Hoey; and brothers-in-law John Hoey and Peter Hoey. He was a proud United States Army Veteran and member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Union.
Visitation Friday, January 2, 2026, 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cooney Funeral Home, Heneghan-Suerth Directors, 625 W. Busse Hwy., Park Ridge. Funeral Saturday starting with prayers at 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home processing to St. Paul of the Cross Church, Park Ridge. Mass 11:30 a.m. Interment and Military Honors at All Saints Cemetery.
