Loftus, Michael John, age 84, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.  Michael was born to the late Michael and Kathleen Loftus, May 27, 1929 in Clarecastle, County Clare, Ireland.  He is preceded in death by his brothers Thomas and Oliver (Catherine) Loftus and fond brother-in-law of Jerome Groark and the late Helena.  Michael was surrounded by his beloved wife, Maureen (nee, McCarthy) and loving children, Catherine (David) Otis, Jean (Patrick) Lynch, Patricia (the late Steven) Struck and Claire (Gregg) Ratkovic.  Michael lived a full life and touched many souls. One of his most proud accomplishments was captaining the Chicago Shannon Rangers Hurling Team in 1963 and relived the memory for 50 years. Although Michael lived in the United States for the past 54 years, he was always an Irishman.  Michael loved his homeland Ireland and everything Irish. Visitation is Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon at St. John Brebeuf Catholic Church 8307 N Harlem Ave., Niles. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
