Maureen Ann Corcoran - a kind, compassionate woman, who was full of life, and who had a passion for genealogy was born in Evanston, IL on January 9, 1948; she left this world on March 24, 2018 at the age of 70. She passed away holding the hands of her two daughters, Lily (Carey) and Nicol. Maureen is survived by her two grandsons, David and Jacob Nabb, and was preceded by her parents, Norma Jean Corcoran (nee Scanlan) and Wilfred Cletus Corcoran. She was deeply loved by her brothers and sister: Dennis (Teri), Thomas (Debbie), Gerald (Maureen), and Mariclare (Bob) McBride. Maureen, SIU Class of 1970, became one of the first women in broadcasting in Chicago. While pursuing her broadcasting career, she earned many opportunities, including standing atop the Sears "Willis" tower as the broadcast antennas were built. She lived in the heart of the city where she started one of the first all-women's softball leagues in Chicago, giving women in the city a chance to embrace their competitive nature. Maureen moved to Isla Mujeres, an island off the coast of Cancun, where she owned and ran two restaurants and had her two daughters. Maureen lived in Mexico for ten years but ultimately moved to Park Ridge, IL in the summer of 1987 in order to raise her daughters closer to her family. Maureen made it her life's mission to provide her two girls the best imaginable life filled with possibility, hope, compassion, and, most importantly, unconditional love; these are the values that her daughters hold close to their hearts just like they will their mother. A gathering of family and friends will be held at 9 am on Monday April 2, 2018 at Mary Seat of Wisdom Church, 920 Granville Ave, Park Ridge IL, 60068. This will be followed by a 10 am mass celebrating Maureen's life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a contribution to the American Lung Association in her name at www.lung.org For information please call 847-685-1002 or visit www.cooneyfuneralhome.com
