Mary J. Powers (nee McMahon) passed away June 28,2021 at her home in Park Ridge, IL.  Mary, Beloved wife of the late Mike Powers, loving mother to Michelle and Mother in Law to Roy Hoffman. Loving Nana to Mike, Jack, Pat and Nolan Hoffman. Beloved sister to the late Michael McMahon (Mary) , the late Fr Humphrey McMahon, the late Noreen O'Leary ( Dermot) and Margret O'Brien ( Brendan) . Beloved Sister in Law to the late Alice Gallagher, the late Eileen Begley (John) , the late Mary-Sissy Phelan ( Kevin) , the late Jackie Power, the late Maurice Power, the late Josie Wells ( Bob)  & Margaret Hall. Beloved Aunt to many. Mary was born in Renagown, Castleisland Co. Kerry Ireland to Humphrey and Bridget McMahon and has been a resident of Chicagoland since 1952. Mary was proud to have worked most of her life. Owning Powers Pub in Chicago with her beloved husband Mike,  38 yrs. for Marriott Corp in hospitality, and in her late 70's a Crossing Guard for Park Ridge Schools which gave her such joy helping children who fondly referred to her as Nana.  Mary's passion was her family. She lost her beloved husband Mike at age 52. She cherished every day with her daughter Michelle, son in law Roy and grandsons, Mike, Jackie, Pat and Nolan.  Mary loved visiting her family in Ireland. She always had a smile on her face, an unforgettable laugh and a kind word to all she met. Mary is finally at peace after suffering for several years from Alzheimer's disease and dementia. In lieu of flowers please make donation in her name to your favorite charity. Visitation will be held  at Cooney Funeral Home in Park Ridge, IL, on Tuesday July 6 ^th from 3-8 pm.
