Mary Rita (nee O'Malley) Flatley—Passed away peacefully at home. Born in Doughmakeon, Louisburgh, County Mayo, Ireland to Anthony and Jane (nee Burke) O'Malley. Mary emigrated to Chicago on October 16, 1947 and became a U.S. Citizen on May 18, 1954. She married Thomas M. Flatley on October 16, 1954.

Proud immigrant, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, matriarch, sister, aunt, friend, baker, gardener, counselor, avid reader and seamstress. Mary was one of the kindest people you could ever meet.

Loving mother of Thomas (Linda), Jane (Carl) Abrahamson, Michael (Margaret), John (Donna), Mary (Colm) Keenan, Mark (Jennifer), Laura, and Paul; dear grandmother to Nicholas (Alissa) Flatley, the late Thomas Flatley, Kern Walden, Stanley (Jessica) Abrahamson, Austin Abrahamson, Patrick (Jennifer) Flatley, Megan (Greg) Gergen, Molly (John) Onan, Sebastian (Bari) Flatley, Mark (Emily) Flatley, Michael (Jessica) Flatley, Brian (Elizabeth Cameron) Keenan, Caroline Keenan, Ali, Ryan, and Liam Flatley, Kathleen (James) Crean, Alison Fugler, Seamus (Bailee Russell) Fugler, Ian and Connor Flatley; devoted great grandmother of William and Thea Flatley, Michael Walden, Wyatt, and Weston Abrahamson, Michael, Declan, and Cormack Flatley, Grady, Lincoln, Porter, and Miles Gergan, Carlie, Owen, Aiden, Maeve, and Charles Flatley, and Amelia Fugler; fond sister of the late Fr. Patrick O'Malley, the late Thomas C. (the late Mary Ellen) O'Malley, the late Brigid O'Malley, Frank (Celia) O'Malley, and Austin O'Malley of Ireland.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Cooney Funeral Home located at 625 Busse Hwy. in Park Ridge. Funeral Saturday, November 26, 2022 family and friends are asked to meet at St. Benedict Church, 2215 W.
