A wonderful mother, grandmother, friend, and teacher left us when Mariellen O'Callaghan (nee Dillon), passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 17, 2014. She retired in 1997 from the Chicago Public School system, where she worked for over 30 years as a teacher and librarian at Stewart School in Uptown. Mariellen was preceded in death by her husband David, her parents Patrick and Mary Ann Dillon, her brothers Terence and John, and most recently her beloved cousin Kathleen (last name). She is survived by her children John (Beverly), Sheila (Chris), Joan (Brad) and Bill. She loved and was loved by her many grandchildren: Matthias Rush, Shayna Kowitz; John Patrick and Marie Angelique O'Callaghan; Connor and Aisling Holton; and Bronwyn and Riley Bond. A wake will be held on Sunday at  Cooney Funeral Home  from 4- 8 p.m.. Funeral Monday 9:30 a.m. to St. Paul of the Cross.  Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery - 700  N.
