Marian Louise Ackermann, 55, best known to friends and family as Lee, passed away on Saturday morning, March 30, 2019, in Chicago. Born on June 7, 1963, in Rochester, NY, Lee was the beloved daughter of Dr. Joseph DiPoala and Nancy Spilove, her best friend. Lee married Guy Ackermann on September 5, 1998, and they shared countless wonderful times over their 20 years together. She is survived by her loving brothers, Dr. Joseph DiPoala Jr. (Sally) and William DiPoala (Ryna). She will forever be the favorite aunt of Audrey, Carolyn and Samuel. Lee will be missed by her stepdaughters Laura Ackermann Lopez (Miguel) and Trisha Ackermann Cupello, along with her adoring grandchildren Kaden and McKenna. Lee is also survived by numerous loving friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her stepfather Robert Spilove. Lee loved animals, especially her little Frida, who accompanied her everywhere. She also loved gardening, and her beautiful garden was featured on Chicago's Garden Walk. She had a passion for entertaining and indulged all with her fabulous gourmet meals. Lee had a magnetic personality and wherever she went she made friends. Most recently, she dedicated her time to volunteer work at Catholic Charities. Lee was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, stepmother, grandmother and friend. To know her was to love her.
