Louis Anthony Musso, D.O., of St. George, Utah, passed away on March 24, 2026. He was born on November 10, 1966, in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Niles, Illinois.
Dr. Musso was the youngest of five children born to Joseph and Mary Jane Musso. He attended Maine East High School, Bradley University, and Midwestern University Medical School. He completed his General Surgery residency training at Michigan State University and his Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio University. Dr. Musso went on to build a distinguished and successful career as a board certified vascular and general surgeon, earning the respect of colleagues and the gratitude of countless patients. After recently retiring from clinical practice, Louis began a new chapter as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Rocky Vista University, Utah Campus.
He currently served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves and in the 934th Forward Surgical Team as a battlefield Trauma Surgeon. A passionate educator, Louis held positions with the American Board of Osteopathic Surgeons and as an examiner for the General Surgery Oral Boards. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying golf, cycling, skiing and fishing.
As accomplished as he was professionally, what mattered most to Louis was his family. He was a devoted brother and a proud, loving uncle who took great joy in the lives of his nieces and nephews.
Louis is survived by his sisters, Maureen Musso and Marianne (Richard) Long; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Tim Facius, Nick Facius (Despi), Justin Long (Mandy), Andrew Long (Taylor), Nathan Long, Margaret Musso, Tyler Long, Jack Musso, and Katie Musso and great nephew Gavin Long and great niece Zoey Facius.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jane, and Joseph Musso; and his brothers, Joseph Musso (Liz) and Richard Musso (Tracy).
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 8th 2026 11:30 a.m. at St. Juliana Catholic Church. 7201 N Oketo Ave, Chicago, IL 60631. Entombment will follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Des Plaines IL.
