Obituary

Lois Mae Lops, nee Grybosky, passed away on October 21, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Michael Lops and daughter of the late Theodore and Alice Grybosky. Loving mother of Amy (Matthew) Moehlman, and cherished grandmother of Rory and Emily, who brought her great joy.

Dear sister of the late Roger, the late Kathy, Thomas “Tom” (the late Marilyn), and Linda (John) Mann. Lois will be remembered fondly by her family and all those whose lives she touched.

Lois was passionate about her career as a special education teacher and speech therapist at Chicago Spaulding School. She truly loved her work and, most importantly, her students. Her dedication, compassion, and commitment to helping children learn and grow made a lasting difference in the lives of many.

A devoted Green Bay Packers fan, Lois proudly supported her team through every season. Her love for the Packers made for some friendly football rivalry at home, as her beloved husband, Michael, was a loyal Chicago Bears fan. While they may not have agreed on which team deserved the win, their playful rivalry was all part of the fun—and one can only imagine the debates that took place on game days!

Lois will be deeply missed by her loving family, friends, former colleagues, and the many students who were fortunate enough to know her.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in Lois’s memory would be greatly appreciated.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27 from 3:00-8:00pm at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Highway, Park Ridge. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, October 28, 11:00am at St. Paul of the Cross, 320 S. Washington St., Park Ridge. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
